Isn't this the single most common thread of human existence? Everyone just wants to be happy. But, how? What does that really mean? Is it even possible?
Happiness is not a verb, nor is it an adjective; it is a noun. Happiness is a state of being. For after all, we are not human doings, we are human beings. Being happy may have nothing to do with economic or social status. For I have seen children in utmost poverty playing joyfully with sticks and dirt. As well, I've seen others with fancy homes & cars and completely miserable. So, how do we find true happiness?
“I can honestly say today my life is not my own. I made a decision to trust my Higher Power and for the first time in my life I'm truly happy. It's like the weight of the world is off my shoulders.” Resident
So, what are the steps to take toward this new found freedom and happiness?
1. Keep it simple
Make each day a fresh start. Do the next right thing. Stay connected.
2. Let go & let God
If I've turned my will & my life over to His care, then I am content.
3. Live & let live
Living life on life's terms keeps everything in perspective.
4. One day at a time
Yesterday's gone, tomorrow's not promised. That's why today is a gift. Live in the present.
5. Easy does it
Sometimes less is more. Slow down. Life is a marathon, not a sprint.
